Ben Griffiths has been DJing a wide range of events for over ten years. Regardless of the function, he always strives for the same goal: to make sure that everybody there has a truly great time.
Ask someone to think of a typical DJ and they’ll often come up with a pretty bad stereotype. At one end of the scale there is the “too cool for school” type, stood aloof in the DJ booth. At the other end there’s the uber-cheesy wedding jock – too busy cracking bad one liners over the mic. Ben doesn’t conform to either of these stereotypes. He believes that it’s all about the music, and all about the guests.
Whether he’s DJing a wedding or a school disco (and he’s done all sorts of events – literally including weddings, funerals and Bar Mitzvah’s!) he will work hard to include everybody. Tastes differ, and he’ll craft the night to seamlessly incorporate a broad spectrum of music. Maybe some Motown for the soul boys, a bit of 80s and 90s to take you back to your youth, and some of the latest chart sensations to make sure that everybody gets up on the dancefloor.
Every night is different, and so is every client – so in advance of the booking, Ben will be in touch to see what sort of thing will get your particular crowd rocking. Typically, he’ll ask you to supply a short playlist of your favourite tracks – the stuff that is guaranteed to get you and your guests up on the dancefloor. (One great way of doing this is to add a line to your event RSVPs asking your guests what their “go to” tune is.) From here, he will create a bespoke set for you and your guests using your brief playlist as a guide.
Of course, this playlist is not set in stone. As the night goes on he’ll read the crowd and react to what is getting people up – no matter what, he’s going to make it a night to remember!
